Rules and Regulations
General Conditions
1)
The
“Cidade de Almada” International Music Competition will
take place in Almada and Almada´s Music Academy (AMA) will be in charge of its
organisation.
2)
The
Music Competition will be held from March 20 to March 23, 2013.
3) The
guitar competition will take place at Solar
dos Zagallos in Sobreda, and the piano competition at Convento dos Capuchos in Caparica.
4)
All
stages of the competition will be performed in public and the order of
participation will be determined by a draw of lots.
5)
The
Music Competition is open to guitar and piano students, of all nationalities, whose
age is within the limits of each age group by December 31st, 2012
and who will present the repertoire specified in this set of rules.
6) A
completed application form and proof of the entry fee payment must be postmarked
no later than March 4, 2013.

Application
Requirements:
a)
Application
Form;
b)
Photocopy
of Birth Certificate, National ID document or Passport;
c)
1
passport-sized photograph;
d)
An
entry fee of €30 (thirty) payable by:
i)
Cheque - made out to “Almamúsica
Produções Musicais, Lda.”
ii)
In
cash – at the Registration Office of Almadas’s Music Academy (AMA)
iii)
Bank
Wire Transfer to:

Proof
of payment must be postmarked no later than March 4, 2013;
e)
No
refund is due in case of withdrawing from the competition or to be enable to
participate;
f)
Photocopy
of the scores with the repertoire that is going to be performed can be
forwarded by post with the indication of the applicant’s name and with all application
requirements;
8) Applicants
admitted to the competition will be notified by email until March 11, 2013 and will
also receive information regarding the time and date of their performance and of
the draw of lots.
9)
The
number of competitors in each level is determined by the logistical capacity.
10) Programmes
submitted for presentation cannot suffer any changes as from March 4, 2013
onwards.
11) All works
performed during the Competition must be played by memory.
12) The
presentation of works that need piano accompaniment is not allowed.
13) Works performed at the preliminary stages of the
competition cannot be played at the final stages.
14) The jury reserves the right to not award some of the
prizes, to award the same prize to more than one competitor when there is a tie
situation and to give special mentions where appropriate.
15) In case to be
award ex-aequo prizes in III, IV and
V level, this will be distributed by the winners.
16) The decisions of the jury are final.
17) In case of a
competitor be a Jury pupil, the first one should not assess his pupil perform.
18) The Winners Concert
will take place on March 23, 2013, 9 p.m. Certificates and prizes will be
awarded at this event.
19) The winning competitors and the participants chosen to
perform at the Winners Concert must attend the Awards Ceremony. The absence
from the event will require the immediate loss of any award that has been
assigned.
20) The various stages of the Competition or any other
presentations within it may be recorded for archive and promotional use,
without paying fees.
21) The costs of accommodation must be paid by the participants. For information on hotels offering
special discounts to the competition’s participants and persons accompanying

22) Competitors hold harmless the Jury and organisers from
any damages, claims, liabilities, and costs, or losses of any kind or nature
whatsoever, which may in any way arise during the Competition.
23) Decisions relating to any issues not covered by the
above regulations will be decided by the Competition’s organisers.
